Snickerdoodles

I know this can be considered an everyday cookie as well, but I liked the idea of having a nice cinnamon and sugar cookie on my cookie plate this year for the holidays. I’m not a huge fan of the traditional cake-like snickerdoodles, so I looked for something more like the consistency of a chocolate chip or sugar cookie texture. These smelled great when they were baking up and taste even better! They were a great incentive to get Matt to hang up some Christmas lights last week! (ps. Matt’s lights look great!)

For the cookie

  • ½ cup butter at room temperate
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 ½ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 ¾ cup flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt

Preheat the oven to 400F. Cream the butter, sugar, and vanilla. Add in cream of tartar, baking soda, salt and flour.

For the cinnamon sugar

  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Mix the cinnamon and sugar together. Roll each tablespoon of dough into a ball shape and roll each of them through the cinnamon sugar until well coated. Bake 8-10 minute until set but not hard. Enjoy!
